Pyaj Pakoda recipes
Onion Pakoda is a popular snack in India, made with sliced onions that
are coated in a spiced gram flour (chickpea flour) batter and deep fried
until crispy. Here is a recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
1 cup gram flour (chickpea flour)
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp ajwain seeds (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1 large onion, thinly sliced
Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix together the gram flour, red chili powder, cumin seeds, ajwain seeds (if using), and salt.
Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring to make a smooth, thick batter.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan over medium heat.
Dip the sliced onions into the batter, allowing any excess batter to drain off.
Carefully place the battered onions into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the pakoras from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel.
Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
